Free Speech Under Attack in Israel

Israel likes to pride itself on being a Western nation, and in too many ways (idolatry and immorality) it is. However, in too many other ways their bought and paid for leaders act like they're old-style Russian Communists who hate religion and the religious and will exert a brazen double-standard in enabling the left to get away with murder (remember Yitzhak Rabin?) and persecute the right for any trumped up charge or wild accusation.Those precious Israelis of American descent are particularly "troublesome" to the hardcore leftists who aren't used to such independent thought (1 Kings 18:17), who abhor any who dare question the State, and who cherish their God-given rights of freedom of speech and religion. Israel is blessed to be like a Western nation in this regard, to the extent that those of American and other Western Israelite democracies are free to live and prosper in the Jewish homeland, free to set a noble example for the nation to follow, and free from politico-religious persecution.Nadia Matar is one of the precious Israelis of freedom-loving American origin who is now under fire for expressing her heartfelt Jewish opinion in the letter that appears below, something that would be considered harmless in the United States. Head of the Deportation AdministrationRe: Help in writing your letter to the Jews of Gush KatifI read on the Internet that in the coming days you will send a personal letter to each of the inhabitants of Gush Katif who are designated for deportation. Your letter contains a "personal appeal and initial explanation of the evacuation process." According to the report in YNet, the final version of the letter has not yet been formulated, and therefore I am volunteering to "help" you formulate the letter. I am attaching a document that is chillingly similar to what you are about to send - and, actually, all you need to do is to change the date (from 1942 to 2004) and the place of the deportation (from Berlin to Gush Katif) and, here, your letter is ready.The document is a letter from 1942 to the Jews about the upcoming deportation from Berlin. The letter was sent to the candidates for deportation by the Jews of the Judenrat (the Disengagement Authority), in cooperation with the Nazi authorities. The document goes into great detail as to where the people will be transferred, what they are to take with them, and what they are to leave behind. The letter can be found at
Yad VaShem.The document ends with an emotional appeal by the heads of the Jewish community in Berlin to act calmly, and thereby facilitate the work of the deportation. "We fervently request that you obey the orders and perform all the preparations for the transport in a calm manner. The members of our community who are designated for immigration should be aware that they con decisively contribute to the smooth implementation of the transport by their personal conduct and orderly compliance with all the orders. Needless to say, we will do all that is in our power, to the extent that this is permitted us, to stand by the members of our community and offer them all possible aid" [Council of the Jewish Community in Berlin, 1942].How similar is this to your words, when you say in various interviews how much you "identify with the pain of the settlers of Gush Katif," and how important it is that you, specifically, are involved in their deportation, in order to ease the process. But all of your declarations will be of no avail, Yonatan. The truth is that you are a modern version of the Judenrat - actually, a much worse version, because then, during the Holocaust, this was forced upon those Jewish leaders by the Nazis, and it is extremely difficult for us, today, to judge them. Today, no one stands with a gun to your head and forces you to collaborate in the crime, without any conscience pangs. Yes, I know. There is a difference between then and now.The goal of the Nazi monster - that also annihilated most of my family - was the physical annihilation of the Jewish people, a physical Holocaust. But let's not pretend to be innocent: the goal of the deportation from Gush Katif and northern Samaria is the annihilation of the entire Jewish settlement in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza, as an interim stage of a spiritual Holocaust: the elimination of the state as a Jewish state, and its transformation into a secular state, a state of all its citizens, without any Jewishness. Not to mention, of course, the bloody price that we will have to pay for our retreat. If the criminal Oslo accords cost us more than 1000 victims, Sharon's deportation plan will give such a push to the Nazi Arab terror (for the Arabs will see that Israel's folding is proof that terror pays) that I fear to think how many Jews will pay with their lives for Sharon's "disengagement."In conclusion - I wish to correct the empty words by Minister Poraz, who said today that "a Jew, too, may be an anti-Semite." This sentence should be: "History has proven that Jews are the biggest anti-Semites." And, Yonatan, you should know that there is no escape from the simple truth: whoever participates in the deportation of the Jews of Gush Katif and northern Samaria - participates in an anti-Semitic act, and will be remembered as such, for everlasting shame. Life in the Fast Lane

Cindy collapses on the couch after getting the last of all 3 kids to bed. She feels like she has been living in the fast lane lately. And no wonder, between school and the kids' activities, Cindy is spending most of her day either getting the kids ready to go somewhere or driving in the car. The whole process is exhausting. First thing in the morning, she can't get the kids to wake up. Well, except for 1 1/2 year old Zachary that is, who rises at 5:30 am. Next, is the battle to get everyone dressed and ready for school. There's the dawdling, the "I can't find my....", and the occasional defiant "I am not going to school today." There are lunches to be made, shoes to find, mouths to wipe and diapers to change. It's a wonder Cindy hasn't pulled her hair out by 8am. Then of course they are always running late, and just when they are about to jump in the car, Nicole will remember her library book is due that day. By the time they leave, they are so late, Cindy has the pedal to
the metal driving to school. And, if she had a really hectic morning and didn't grab a snack for Zachary on the way out the door, she has the privilege of hearing him whine during the drive as well.Today had been one of those days and in her rush to get Nicole to school, she got pulled over. When the police officer asked for her insurance card and registration, Cindy looked at him as if he were crazy. She gave him her license and while he went to run it, she was scrambling through the various glove compartments and storage areas in the car. After 10 minutes of searching, she produced a crumpled registration and 3 expired insurance cards. Cindy was given a speeding ticket and a ticket for failure to have insurance. Megan was whining about wanting to watch a movie, Zachary was crying because he was hungry, and Nicole was tardy.Tracy is up at 5:30 am with Alex. Her days start early which is why she usually tries to sneak in a nap during Alex's nap and Brandon's room time. While Kevin is having breakfast with Alex, Tracy jumps in the shower. Meanwhile, Brook's alarm goes off and she starts her day. Getting Brook her own alarm clock and teaching her to use it was a solution that eliminated some of the morning conflict between Tracy and Brook. In the process of this, they also figured out that
Brook is a slow mover in the morning and does better if she has more time to get ready and isn't rushed.While Tracy is getting dressed and getting Alex ready, Brandon and Nicole start on their Morning Cards, which allow them to get ready for school independently. Due to the older kids' independence, Tracy has enough time to get Alex dressed, get ready herself, and make Nicole's lunch as well. There are still the occasional challenges in the morning, but having a workable routine makes life in the fast lane much more manageable. At 7:25, Tracy announces that the bus (really the family van) is leaving in 5 minutes. Before leaving, everyone stops in the mud room to grab their belongings. The mud room houses all of things the family needs to get out the door. Each person has a place to put their belongings as well as labeled hooks to hang backpacks, jackets, diaper bags and purses. At 7:30, everyone is loaded in the van and although the ride to school is not perfect, at least they aren't rushed.Tips for getting out the door with your sanity intact:Getting up 15 minutes earlier can make all the difference between rushing out the door in the morning and being more relaxed.Using something like "Morning Cards" eliminates the conflict between mom and kids during the morning rush hour. Creating a regular place to hang the keys in the house eliminates last minute key searches. That way, if you should get pulled over, you will be able to locate the information needed.Keeping only a few items at a time in the family vehicle for the kids to do keep clutter at bay. For preschool-school aged kids, consider an inexpensive art kit and a notepad for each child. Are Your E-Mails Bouncing? Hard Bounces, Soft Bounces, and Everything in Between

Are you doing "the bounce"?
Are you doing "the bounce"?
No, it's not a new hip-hop dance.
A bounce, or bounce-back, is an e-mail that is returned to you because it cannot be delivered for some reason. You've probably gotten bounces on your own personal e-mail program, when you send an e-mail and then receive a response saying it was undeliverable.
These get to be more of a headache, however, when you publish an e-zine. Sending e-mail to more people means more bounce-backs. And too many bounce-backs can cause your mailings to be blocked with certain Internet service providers, meaning many of your e-mails won't reach your readers.
What You Need to Know
There are two kinds of e-mail bounces:
A hard bounce is an e-mail message that has been returned to you because the recipient's address is invalid. A hard bounce might occur because the domain name doesn't exist, the recipient is unknown, or there's some type of network problem on the recipient's end.
A soft bounce is an e-mail message that gets as far as the recipient's mail server, but is bounced back before it reaches the recipient. One of the most common causes for a soft bounce is a full mailbox. This will happen A LOT with your subscribers who use free e-mail services like Yahoo and HotMail, because they allow for very little e-mail storage.
What You Need to Do
Ask your current list service how they handle your bounces.
Some of them have a hands-off policy and don't do anything. If so, ask them how you can go in yourself and see how many names are bouncing and who they are. Then you can decide to keep them on your list or delete them.
One factor to consider here is your listserve's "retry" policy. That is, how many times do they try to send out your e-zine to the soft-bounce people? Some only try once, others try several times, waiting a few hours in between.
Sometimes you'll also see a few e-mail addresses that are obviously misspelled (e.g. "nancy123@aolcom" -- note the missing dot) and you can fix them yourself manually.
If your listserve is hands-off, you'll want to go in and look at your bounce situation at least once a month to check things out and delete names if necessary.
The other extreme is list services that automatically delete people after only one hard bounce, which isn't good because it could be caused by a temporary problem like a network outage. If this is your listserve's policy, find out if you can change it.
Then some list services take the middle road by automatically deleting anyone who has had a certain number of bounces in a row. Ideally you want them to wait longer on soft bounces to make sure that the problem isn't resolved over the next few issues you send out.
You can often instruct the listserve to unsubscribe soft bounces after a specific time, say, five bounces over a two-week period.
Whatever your case, be sure you get a handle on your bounces this month!

During the 1980's and 90's a new concept of property mortgaging arrived in the UK. Endowment mortgages became extremely popular with homebuyers who wanted a secure but affordable method of repaying their mortgage debt. Most large financial organisations were happy to offer these products and they were sold by large banks, building societies and high street brokers.The general concept of an endowment mortgage was that the customer would make regular installments into an investment fund managed by the endowment provider (the big financial organisations). The investment would eventually generate enough money to pay off the mortgage debt in full and usually the customer would be left with an extra amount or bonus at the end. In addition to this the customer would also have the benefit of life insurance for the duration of the investment period with cover provided up to the value of the endowment maturity value. The overall financial package of a combined insurance and savings product linked to lower mortgage payments, was almost too good to be true.
As a result there are currently around ten million active endowment policies in the UK.Like most things that seem too good to be true, endowment mortgage policies have sadly proven to be extremely disappointing for the vast majority of customers. These investment products are closely linked to the worlds stock markets but with the recent 5 year global recession and sharp downturn experienced by most countries, the anticipated return on investment is proving to be far less than the endowment providers anticipated.It is estimated that 80% of all existing endowment products will fail to meet the projected target amount and some will have considerable shortfalls. This means that potentially as many as 8 million people in the UK will fail to reap any bonuses from their plans but worst of all may completely fail to pay off their mortgage debt by the time their plan matures.It was not long before the consumer groups began asking serious questions about the credibility of endowment policies and the regulatory body in the UK Financial Services Authority (FSA) was forced to act following complaints about widespread misselling.It has since become apparent that millions of endowment policies were mis-sold in that the individuals or organisations conducting the sale, failed to follow the rules and notify the customer of certain key features relating to the advantages and disadvantages of the endowment products. Far too much emphasis was placed on the benefits of the products with little or no discussion about the risks involved with potentially erratic investments that were linked to the stock market. The message was that the plan simply could not fail and this was a flawed and misleading sales pitch.The FSA have devised a scheme that allows endowment policyholders to make a formal complaint about possible misselling. The rules allow for such a complaint to be made once a "warning" letter has been received from the endowment provider indicating that the plan will more than likely fail to meet the projected target amount (this is known as a policy shortfall). If the complaint is upheld, the endowment provider or the salesman / selling organization must make an offer of compensation to the customer. The average compensation award is thought to be in the region of £5000.
Whilst it is possible for customers to complain personally, the FSA process is regrettably complex and many customers will need assistance from "professional claims handlers" in order to pursue their complaint effectively. Many endowment providers corrupt the process by using technical jargon and complex rules. They have also introduced "Time barring" arguments which have been allowed by the FSA. The rule here is that you have generally three years from the date of your first warning letter to make your complaint. This serves to confuse customers and many complaints that are pursued direct without professional assistance will simply fail. The majority of customers do not even bother to complain because of the complexities involved.Summary:

For a homeowner who doesn't necessarily spend much time in their garden but wants to enjoy it from above, taking into account the garden views from upstairs windows and/or decks will help in dictating the planting plan.In San Francisco, where garden space is typically 30' X 30', people look to maximize the design effects: creating outdoor rooms with patios, paths, fountains and arbors. The same is true with a garden that is mainly viewed from an upstairs deck or window. One example is a garden that we have been maintaining and restoring for over a year. The objective is that homeowner be able to see as much of the garden as possible from the 2nd and 3rd story decks. In the past year, we have pruned several Plum trees along the fence line and through out. At this point, they are in far better aesthetic shape: having opened up the garden as well as enhanced views.Tip pruning the canopy and select branches of Angel's Trumpet: Datura, is also necessary throughout spring and summer for maintaining the deck views of the rear planting areas. Although this tree is frost tender in many climates, we are fortunate that it thrives in the Bay Area, and that there are several nice varieties to choose from.Badly formed plants such as the leggy growing, purple flowering Princess Tree: Tibouchina, are also candidates for a severe heading back. While this pruning technique leaves the tree looking hacked and butchered for several months afterwards, on a healthy specimen, dormant buds will grow from the woody stumps creating a new floriferous head.As with all gardens, the seasons bring about changes, creating new expressions. With fall upon us, our job for view enhancement is nearly complete, once the Podocarpus tree is pruned. As you may have guessed, Arabica coffee gets its name from Arabia, the land of kings. When it comes to coffee, Arabica is definitely king. As legend has it, a goat herd named Kaldi discovered coffee on the Arabian peninsula around 500-600 A.D. He observed his goats excited behavior after eating the red cherry-like berries of a coffee plant.Hence the name Arabica, however, scientific evidence indicates that coffee first grew in Kaffa, what is now Ethiopia, in Northeastern Africa and was transported shortly afterwards across the mouth of the Red Sea to Yemen.One could assume that the name coffee comes from the word Kaffa which would support the evidence that coffee first appeared in this region. Semantics aside, it is accepted that Arabia was the origin of commercial coffee trade so Arabica coffee is appropriately named.Of the more than forty species of plants in the Coffea genus only two are suitable for making coffee, Coffea arabica and Coffea canephora the latter of which is more commonly known as Coffea robusta. Of the two, Arabica is definitely the premium bean.Many factors determine the quality of the end product. Such as, where the coffee is grown, soil, climate and elevation, not to mention harvesting, processing and roasting of the mature beans. However, one fact is undisputed, the finest coffees in the world come from Arabica coffee plants.Arabica coffee accounts for about 80% of all coffee produced in the world. It prefers higher elevations and drier climates than its cousin C. robusta.The tropics of South America provide ideal conditions for growing Arabica coffee which grows best between 3,000 and 6,500 feet but has been grown as high as 9,000 feet. Generally, the higher the plant is grown the slower it matures. This gives it time to develop the internal elements and oils that give coffee its aromatic flavor.Within the C. arabica species there are three main varietals; Typica, Bourbon and Caturra. Each has subtle differences that add character nuances to body, acidity, balance etc… that are detectable to the discerning palate.More importantly, the sub-species of Arabica coffee have been bred to adapt to a specific growing region to be resistant to certain afflictions such as fungus, parasites, insects etc… that differ from region to region.Interestingly, C. arabica, is self-pollinating as opposed to C. robusta, which is not. This might explain why Arabica coffee is more abundant throughout the world. Also why it does well at higher elevations where bees might be less active due to cooler temperatures and why Robusta prefers lower, hotter, climates where bees are more plentiful. that are meant to be funny. Silly disguises and bugs and devices
that allow you to jump into telephone conversations at will. It
can be very fun to interrupt a phone conversation between two
friends and break in with a joke or some silliness. But you

gadgets are both useful and fun. There is no reason to be all

not ruin sensitive equipment. While some people use their spy
gear for fun on top of serious professional uses, others get

accidentally destroy an expensive piece of equipment that you
use for counter surveillance or for investigations, then you can

Sharpness of the Acura TL

Superseding the Acura Vigor in 1996, the Acura TL is a midsize entry-level luxury car. It is manufactured and sold under the Acura brand, which is under the automobile manufacturer, Honda. It has become quite popular in its own way and received a name for itself as the best selling luxury sedan, after selling more than 79,000 units in 2004. In 1998, Honda introduced the Acura TL-X concept car. It featured a preview of the second generation of TLs that would make its public entrance after a year. This second generation TL is now called as the 3.2 TL. It has a newly-designed 3.2 liter 225 HP SOHC VTEC J32 V6 along with a four-speed electronic automatic transmission with SportShift. The only option given to this vehicle was a hard drive based navigation system. Changes continued to roll in for the Acura TL as the years went on. This vehicle sported changes like a five speed automatic transmission with SportShift, that gave way for a slightly better fuel economy and acceleration. Other changes included the addition of side impact airbags for the front passengers and a change of format in its navigation system. Also done in were a DVD based navigation system where a driver could theoretically drive from one coast to another with this new navigation system installed. The system had stored the maps in zones and there were five different zones for the United States. The vehicle also sported a new fa?ade with its redesigned tail lights, a great-looking and beveled front, and a wide, yet powerful stance. The gutter at the beltline of the vehicle sported a tough, extruded shape that could make one recall the blade of a hunting knife. Also added were an in-dash CD changer, firmer seats and suspension for the year 2002. Come the 3rd generation Acura TL, it became the first car in the U.S. market to have a six disc DVD-Audio system which had an output through an 8-speaker system. This system was engineered by Panasonic, and it also plays back normal audio CDs along with DTS audio discs, CD-audio, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs. It also has a Bluetooth HandsFree Link, or HFL, system that is integrated with the audio system itself and this HFL system allows drivers to use their cellular phones hands-free. By simply voice-dialing the number that they need to contact, drivers can have the entire conversation over the Acura TL?s built-in audio system. The Acura TL makes drivers feel great when they are behind the wheel for Honda has certainly kept in mind to consider ergonomics. With the Acura TL, the driving position feels perfectly natural. The controls carry the feel as if they belong in a performance car. It also has notably short-stroke brake pedals that lets drivers modulate the new four-piston Brembo front brakes with a precision that could be considered as complete. You have 1 or 2 seconds to make an impression, and 2 or 3
seconds more to make a sale, or forget the web hosting
business!!
Web hosting as a business has taken off in the last 12 months,
with a vengeance.
How many web sites are on the Web today? They all have to be
hosted somewhere, the result being, there are now thousands of
web hosts around the globe today. How do people decide to choose
you?
Potential customers will talk to friends; perhaps ask a local
web design group; or consult their ISP (Internet Service
Provider); but this may result in knowledge of only one or two
hosting companies. There are hosting directories, and review
sites which may be governed by whoever pays for the largest ad
or personal opinions that seem popular. The visitor will still
have to make the final decision.
If these visitors make their own decisions, and there are
thousands of web hosts to choose from, there are very few
seconds to deliver your offer, which must be instantly obvious.
What can you do to turn this streaming traffic into sales?
First View â€" The look of your web site
Are the design, content and delivery up to customer
expectations? If the presentation has obviously been thought
about; a conscientious effort to delivery and content; then it
is likely the visitor will believe that the hosting company will
also look after their site conscientiously. If the presentation
is poor, then forget it, there are more than enough web hosts
that look good. Of course, to the other extreme, if the web
host’s site looks a million dollars, it is likely that the
visitor will be expecting to a pay a ‘million’ too!
The Initial Offers â€" What are your best packages?
With the sudden growth of the web, the hosting industry has had
to take a retail approach to content delivery. In the retail
trade the offers are so many, that the customer has to learn to
speed read, or speed view. Visitors to web hosting sites have
not got the time to read all the details on each of every one of
thousands of sites, so speed viewing is a must; or is it?
Web hosts who have nothing to sell usually hide this fact by
showing columns of text, expecting the visitor to sort out what
is good to them or not. The usual explanation for this is “ The
visitor knows what they want and will find it without our
hassling them.†The expectation is that with less hassle the
visitor will more likely become a customer. Not true.
Web hosts that have special offers, great deals, or offer
specialised packages for say private, business or corporate
customers; will tell you just that. Think about it, why hide the
fact you have a winner? By taking a retail approach to a very
retail business, the real dealmakers are not ‘backward in coming
forward’.
Obviously making everything on the site an ‘excellent’ offer is
the other extreme. Most web hosts offer 90% of what their
competition offers, so to point out every good point offered
would be overkill. The likely result would be that you would
show the visitor that you are new to the industry, and less
experienced; not good in times of future support.
By pointing out the great points in the best reasonable
packages, you will catch the eye of the traffic, until
previously, zooming past you. What to do when they have stopped
for a visit is another matter.
Congratulations on getting the traffic to stop and browse â€" What
next?
Getting the zooming traffic to stop and browse is difficult
enough. The look of your web site can catch that peripheral
vision of theirs; in an instant they can decide, “I will stop
here and have a lookâ€. The offers of 3 or 4 of your accounts,
too good to be true, or at least warrant further investigation,
entice a visit.
These ‘highway signs’ make you stop and pull over. What happens
once the visitors have pulled in? You will have to hold them
there, before they up and leave just as quickly. The ‘restees’
have seen the site, they have sampled the best on offer; now
what? You know you have a captured audience, all be it for
another 2 or 3 seconds. Be careful not to send these valuable
potential customers off clicking around your site. They clicked
on your special package, the offer on the front page, so take
them directly to it.
The visitor has been enticed to your web site; seen good offers
and one or two of those are just what they are looking for. Take
them direct to the page with the offer; include the price;
include basic details that quantify very quickly the worth of
the package; and, provide an order form. Do not smother these
account pages in common details, or details of other accounts.
There should be only two main pages, the front page and the
account package page, that which the customer clicks to. The
front page is attractive and entices you to stay, the offer
encourages you to spend a few more seconds on the account page
consisting of title, offer, basics, price and order form; all
this should be on a secure page ready to take credit card
information.
No two visitors are the same. There are those that will just
sign up straightaway and those that will ‘further investigate’.
Put the remainder of your account packages’ details, along with
the ‘about’ information, the ‘help’, the ‘support’ etc, on other
pages, using links on navigation bars for easy access, keep the
offer clean.
You have one or two seconds to sell your product, don’t use it
to educate your potential customer, let someone else do that!
Give them what they want, this is now a very retail industry, if
you are stuck for reference material, then visit a supermarket
or local store, retail research has been around for years.

New Bankruptcy Law Will Not Protect You from Identity Theft

Recently passed by Congress with overwhelming support, the oddly-named Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act was designed to eliminate “bankruptcy of convenience.†The perceived problem is that many compulsive gamblers, shoppers and drug users often run up huge debts on easily available credit cards with no intention of paying their bills. A relatively easy bankruptcy filing through Chapter 7 of the Federal bankruptcy code wipes all the debts clean and gives the debtor a fresh start. Studies would suggest that most people who file for bankruptcy are actually suffering from sudden illness, job loss or some other catastrophic event, but the law was passed just the same, and debtors will now have to repay at least a portion of their problem debt when the new law takes place in October, 2005.A provision of the new law that was not well publicized is the fact that the law applies to any debt, including debt which has been incurred through theft of the debtor’s identity. If someone steals your credit card, or driver’s license, or both, and runs up a huge amount of debt by posing as you, then you will be held responsible for the debt. Identity theft has become an increasingly large problem in the last few years, but the new legislation should make everyone aware of the problem associated with identity theft. While a determined thief can probably steal anything, a few simple steps can make it harder for someone to steal your identity.:Shred your documents. There are plenty of thieves that will sort through trash, looking for credit card receipts, bills and any document that has your signature. If you are throwing away financial documents, shred them first. Shredders can be found at any office supply store for a reasonable price. Don’t give out your Social Security number to anyone unless it is absolutely necessary. Congress originally intended that the Social Security number not be used as a national identity number, but over the years it has become just that. If someone with whom you are doing business asks you for your number, inquire as to whether it is absolutely necessary that they have it. Providing the number may not be required. A thief can obtain a lot of information about you if they have your Social Security number. Guard it carefully.Don’t carry more credit cards with you than is necessary. It’s rarely necessary to carry 20 credit cards in your purse or wallet. Go through them and see if you can’t keep a few in a secure place at home.Check your credit report once a year and look for suspicious entries. It typically takes nearly a year for someone to find out that their identity has been stolen. Look out for loans or large purchases that you don’t remember making. Never give out personal financial information, especially credit card numbers, to someone that you don’t know on the telephone.A few simple steps, practiced regularly, can protect you from identity theft.
